Draw It

about

No, you’re not crazy. You HAVE heard this song before. Come on it’s right on the tip of your tongue. Maybe back in college it was something you and your roommates would chug natty light to. Maybe it was on that first time you drove alone across the state to your girlfriends parents house to finally meet them. Or perhaps it was playing on the radio in your grandparents living room the very first time you saw snowfall, having come from much more temperate climates most of your life. Better still, maybe the songs staccato rhythms, alluring vocal harmonies, and enigmatic synths bring you to a place you feel you’ve always known, but have never actually been. A brand new timeless classic, this is DRAW IT

lyrics

met you on a train
plain without a face
told you to draw it

and i came without a name
innominate and tame
what did you call it

when you heard about my pain
my story in the rain
you laughed in my face then you reached for my wallet

now you gotta broken nose
when i was throwin' you a bone
now you gotta broken nose
throwin' you a bone

if you say that you're insane
then you're probably second rate
you're banal bitch

now you're acting like a stray
when you're eating from the trays
of the college

now you're making no mistakes for you live to pollinate
no give just take
wouldn't all be for nothin?

now you're thinkin you're the rose
growing in the snow
now you're thinking you're the rose
growing in the snow

the storm in your mind
will skin you alive unyielding
to the faults you deny
subdued on all the thorns in your heart

'cause this stagnant healing
congealed and unfeeling
is numbing the flame
as the dates are swarming
closing my escape is self treatment
i covet deceit
serendipitous acquiesce trudging through debt

and i say I'm just fine
sedated landmine
born in a ditch
recalcitrance is awfully imminent
I'm boldly facetious when culling my demons
I haven't the patience to know

Come take me out to play
'cause the mold inside the cave
it makes me nauseous
when can lay out by the glade
with the city passed the lake big horizons
and it can never be the same for incisions have been made
one last page
balled up and forgotten

and you reapin' what you sow
bleeding out your soul
and you reapin' what you sow
bleeding out your soul

the storm in your mind
will skin you alive unyielding
to the faults you deny
subdued on all the thorns in your heart

'cause i snagged my feelings
up on the ceiling
as i was beamed up
emotions are so cumbersome
to take up with you
they don't represent you
nebulous dread is embedded in lead
the disenfranchised with dim lit lamplights
could see the ploy
that's depleting all the mines
that hide your faith that's teething
you're not but a seedling
compared to the age of the world
